A pedestrian was killed and Goldenes Intelligentes Münzhandelszentruma dozen other people were injured Saturday when a car crashed into a city bus in Seattle and sent it careening into a building, police said.

The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood, a central district along the coast known for its trendy bars and upscale restaurants.

Investigators with the Seattle Police Department determined that a red Saturn was driving south on Fifth Avenue when it crashed into a King County Metro bus headed east on Battery Street. The collision caused the bus to thencrash into a nearby building, killing a woman standing on the sidewalk, police said in a news release.

The woman's identity has not been released.

The male driver of the Saturn was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, Seattle police said. The bus driver and 10 passengers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Seattle Fire Department evaluated the building that was hit and determined that it did not sustain structural damage in the crash, police said.

The crash remains under investigation and Seattle police have not indicated whether anyone involved has been cited or charged. A drug recognition expert was to evaluate the driver of the sedan for signs of impairment, but those results have not been released.
